Another very successful Central West Club’s Fifield Enduro has been run and won. Sixteen competitors took part this year, including six in the pony class. The total distance for the horses over the six days of driving was 311.6km, whilst the pony distance was 203km. Competitors, grooms and officials came from the Gulgong, Central West, Goulburn, Hunter, Camden, Reedy Creek, Liverpool Range and Hills Clubs. Daily winners in the horse class were Neil Munn, John Hetherington, Damon Allport and Wayne Teale, with the final placings being 1st Neil Munn, 2nd Damon Allport and 3rd Wayne Teale. Rosemary Laing blitzed the pony class, winning every day. The final placings for the ponies were 1st Rosemary Laing, 2nd Peter Attard and 3rd Helen Huckerby.
Next year, because Easter is so late it has been decided to hold the Fifield Enduro before Easter. The 2011 Enduro will be the 12th year of the competition – believed to be the longest running single venue event on the NSW calendar. The 2011 Enduro will be held from Saturday April 9 to Sunday April 17, in the first week of the school holidays. From 2012 the event will return to the second week of the holidays.
