Bungendore Carriage Driving Club

Last updated September 2008
The Club has had a quiet winter but was well represented at the Wagga Wagga AGM and Conference. Terry and Edan Kelly attended the Enduro at Marrar and had a great time. Members were disappointed at the club AGM in August that Terry did not stand again for the position of secretary, but were very grateful for his efforts over the last three years. A new secretary will hopefully be appointed at the next club meeting in September.

The Bungendore Club hosted the Branch Meeting at Queanbeyan, for the second time in 12 months. Club members really enjoy welcoming delegates and interested members to these meetings and the last meeting was very well attended. Thanks should go to Barbara Burton (Mahbrook Originals) for supplying the gorgeous hats for Sheryl Leibowitz’s presentation ‘Fashions on the Box Seat’. It was a fun activity that was enjoyed by all.

Entries have been received already for the Level 3 CDE on September 13/14 at Witwood, including two from drivers new to combined driving. To open up the weekend to more drivers, the club is offering a graded dressage day for those who don’t want to drive the marathon. This event is a warm up for the NSW CDE Championships at Bundanoon in October. A couple of working bees have been held, with tidying up being the main activity.
The Munro Cup will be held on the first Sunday in March. There will be more details in the next Whip Around.
Bungendore Club will be hosting the 2009 Australian Combined Driving Championships on behalf of the ACDS on April 11-13. The President of the Jury will be Hardy Zantke of the United States, who writes excellent articles published in the Journal. Hardy will also be conducting lessons and group clinics whilst in Australia. Two new obstacles will be added to the course so more challenges are ahead for drivers.
