Camden Harness Club

The Club drive on July 20 intended for Camden Farm, ended up being an impromptu drive at the Biffins. Sylvia Biffin and Jan Downes driving Becky took Carol Fitzpatrick with Spook on a tour of part of the Biffin’s farm, a scenic jaunt on a neighbour’s place and finally a quiet jog along Biffins Road.
The weather was cool but a wonderful time was had by all. They even gave Tony Biffin a short taste of life in a little sulky behind a short legged pony (really so he could open the gates). It was difficult to make creamy Spook out in the tall grass of the neighbour’s property at times, but it was no worry to Spook.
Spook featured again in August when loaned to Lou Lyons to drive at the Interclub Challenge Day at Bundanoon. It was a very rare non appearance by Lou’s Gumpy, who is recovering from an injury. Other Camden members at Bundanoon were Betty Lyons with Ben, Greg McDonald and daughter with Starcke, Martyn Minns with Xavier and Jan Denney with Gus. John Lyons, John and Margaret Moore and Ian Denney were amongst the Camden supporters braving the very cold conditions. Camden again had a successful Challenge Day with Betty and Ben sharing the High Point trophy with two Southern Highlanders, and the Club winning the trophy for the best average score.
