NSW ACDS awards for 2006 (presented at the 2007 AGM)
June 2007
The purpose of these awards is to recognize individuals who have contributed positively to their chosen driving activity consistently and comprehensively throughout a given time period. These individuals may not necessarily be those who have excelled at performance criteria alone.
The aim of the branch is to award an outstanding individual who has demonstrated his/her continued commitment to Carriage Driving in the areas of Participation, Attendance, Training and Achievement.
Here are the winners for 2006, together with brief summaries from their nominators’ submissions.
Pleasure/Endurance /Historical Driver:
ROBERT ALLPORT (Goulburn Club)
Robert is a regular competitor in the Central West Fifield Enduros, participating in all since 1999. He won in 2003. At Fifield he runs the Anzac Day Service and completely looks after the big cookout held overnight away from the main camp. He has conducted regular endurance and historical drives in the Crookwell area and has been an active member in all areas of the running of the Goulburn Club. He is known amongst his peers for his concern for the welfare of the horse, practical horsemanship and willingness to assist other competitors.

He has assisted current drivers and encouraged possible new drivers at both club and state level, such as at the very successful Come and Try day run by the Canberra Club, and at the Driver Development Workshop at Yanco. He has also given valuable support to pairs drivers. At the end of the year Garry helped put carriage driving in front of a wider audience by taking part in the exciting Cones Driving Demonstration at SIEC Horsley Park.

Most of this was done with Christine Lodge as her groom. A highlight of her year was driving cross country for 30km in a Charity Ride and Drive at O’Connell. Linda is an active committee member at club level who attends most club activities, as a driver or socially.
