Indoor/Outdoor Series

Indoor-Outdoor Horse Driving Trial

Based on the British Indoor driving series, Indoor/Outdoor events provide training opportunities in three-phase competition with minimum fuss for both organisers and competitors.

Dates – please see events page

Drivers must complete two qualifiers, without elimination to be able to compete in the Finals. You can drive as many combinations as you wish, as long as all those combinations qualify individually.

Note:

  • There is a new Precision and Paces (dressage) test since the 2021 series (see below). This test is used in both NSW and Victoria competitions so drivers can qualify equally to compete in both states finals.
  • There are minor changes to the Master Program and Entry Form
  • The latest Rule Book was released on the 4th of February 2021

Any queries, please contact your State CDE Convenor – Tracey Ellis

2021 Indoor Dressage Test No. 10 (2005)

Precision and Paces

Using a smaller, 50m x 20m arena than CDEs, the precision and paces phase is a series of movements performed from memory. One official will judge the precision of the test, while the other will evaluate whether the correct paces are performed.

Cones

A course of 10 pairs of cones is set up on an arena no larger than 70m x 30m. Drivers must negotiate each pair of cones in order and inside a target time (set at 220m per minute).

Obstacles

Each competitor must navigate through four marathon type obstacles gated A – E. Penalties are awarded based on time taken through the obstacle. Once again, the obstacles are on an arena no larger than 70m x 30m.

Inclusive Nature

Indoor and outdoor events offer valuable training opportunities for new drivers, inexperienced ponies, and those looking to refine their skills, while also being easier to organise and less demanding for competitors.
